How long will it be before we have 600Hz monitors?
According to My Drivers, AU Optronics (AUO) are working on a 540Hz full HD gaming monitor, delivering even higher refresh rates than the 480Hz screens that the company showcased at Computex 2022.
With a 540Hz refresh rate, AOU's planned high refresh rate monitor will offer users an 9x refresh rate boost over standard 60Hz displays, allowing games top be played with crazy levels of both smoothness and with incredibly low input latencies. That said, you will need hardware that's capable of delivering 540 FPS framerates.
AOU Optronics are also working on 4K 240Hz and 1440p 360Hz displays, offering gamers a greater balance between display resolution and refresh rate. Most of today's highest refresh rate monitors are 360Hz, making 540Hz monitors a huge upgrade for competitive gamers.
At the time of writing, 1080p remains the most popular screen resolution for PC gamers. Low-end gamers can more easily achieve high framerates at this resolution, and extreme gamers can buy premium 1080p displays that can deliver gamers extreme refresh rates. 540Hz is 9x faster than 60Hz, and that is a big deal for competitive gamers.
