Batman PC Issues Reportedly Known Months before Release

Batman: Arkham Knight is a complete shambles on PC, with framerate issues, frequent crashing and visuals which were inferior to the console version it was unsurprising that the PC version of the game was pulled from Steam and even some Retailers.

Reports coming from Kotaku suggest that Warner Bros. knew that the PC version suffered from issues well before release, simply ignoring them and pushing the game onto the market anyway. Two anonymous sources told the site that Warner was aware of the issues and that they have existed for well over a year.

According to the report Rocksteady games was very busy working n the console versions as they said that they were "not nearly as easy to work with as expected," with their QA team mostly focusing on bug hunting on the consoles and not on PC. Warner also reportedly never hired any external firms to specialize on testing the PC version, fearing that an external team would leak details surrounding the game's plot before release.

Batman: Arkham Knight Framerate Unlock & Tweak Guide

below is a quote form on of Kotaku's sources;

"We reported literally thousands of bugs that were specific to the PC version relating to the frame rate,"

"All sorts of fucked up texture issues. The Batmobile in particular has always f***ed things up on PC."

The report also claims that Rocksteady did not work on the PC version of the game e at all, leaving the work solely on a studio caller Iron Galaxy, a studio comprising of 12 people who have experience which is almost solely on the console market. This was surely a disaster waiting to happen, the question now is why did Warner let this game launch in such a sorry state?

Given that Warner games typically suffer from PC issues, with Mortal Kombat X being a great example here, and the fact that for Arkham Origins they said that they would not fix all bugs of the game as they were working on DLC, the publisher obviously doesn't care for the PC market.

The reason why the game was pulled from sale is easy to figure out, Steam Refunds now exist which allow us consumers to return this mess of a game and receive a refund, meaning that unlike before Warner Bros. and other developers no longer can release terrible PC ports and expect us PC gamers to deal with the consequences. Now that PC gamers can return their games Warner Bros. is essentially forced to fix it, as this has empowered PC gamers to actually punish developers for developing sub par PC games by hitting them directly in the wallet.

Warner and Rocksteady say that they are working to fix the PC version of the game, but with the massive number of issues which the game posses it may take weeks or even months to fix. Hopefully the game is re-released in a workable state soon, as it would serve as a great victory for the consumer, especially given the last years worth of terrible PC ports.

This is why I'd rather have worse graphics, a la Fallout 4. At least it should work properly.Quote
