Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will run at 30FPS on Last Gen consoles

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will run at 30FPS on Last Gen consoles, a first for console COD games. This means that the last generation version of the game will not just have inferior graphics and framerate, but will also not include the games co-op campaign mode.

Right now the PS3 and Xbox 360 version can be pre-ordered at similar prices as the current gen versions, meaning that gamers on last generation hardware will be paying a similar amount for a vastly inferior experience.

Welcome to Call of Duty: Black Ops III, a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 combines three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies, providing fans with the deepest and most ambitious Call of Duty ever. The Campaign has been designed as a co-op game that can be played with up to 4 players online or as a solo cinematic thrill-ride. Multiplayer will be the franchise’s deepest, most rewarding and most engaging to date, with new ways to rank up, customize, and gear up for battle. And Zombies delivers an all-new mind-blowing experience with its own dedicated narrative. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 can be played entirely online, and for the first time each of the offerings has its own unique player XP and progression systems. The title ushers in an unprecedented level of innovation, including jaw-dropping environments, never before experienced weaponry and abilities, and the introduction of a new, improved fluid movement system. All of this is brought to life by advanced technology custom crafted for this title, including new AI and animation systems, and graphics that redefine the standards Call of Duty fans have come to expect from the critically-acclaimed series, with cutting edge lighting systems and visual effects.

PC Features for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and it's minimum PC specifications have also recently been revealed, with Split Screen Co-op on PC, an FOV Slider and the promise of strong CF and SLI performance.

Black Ops 3 PC features will include:

  • - 100% Ranked Dedicated Servers
  • - 2-Player Split Screen
  • - Seamless Game Controller Support
  • - Strong GPU scaling, SLI and Crossfire Optimizations, and 4K monitor support make the game look and run great at full 4K resolution
  • - FOV Slider
  • - Framerate Cap Slider
  • - Improved Text Chat features available in-game and also now in lobbies.
  • - Fantastic Steam Trading Cards – collect them all!
  • - Treyarch Anti-Cheat (TAC)

We also have the game’s minimum system requirements, which are not overly high for a modern game.

  • - Operating System: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit / Windows 8.1 64-Bit
  • - Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD Phenom™ II X4 810 @ 2.60 GHz
  • - Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • - Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 470 @ 1GB / ATI® Radeon™ HD 6970 @ 1GB
  • - DirectX: Version 11
  • - Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • - Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Hopefully this refocus on PC and designing integrating 4 player co-op into Call of Duty's campaign will help this game become fun again for the many people who have grown tired of the traditional Call of Duty Formula.

It is a real shame that the last generation version of the game looks like a blatant cash in, being cut down to the point that it functions and then charging full price for the privilege.

I'm surprised they're even releasing it for last gen consoles.. Locking the fps at 30 on those machines really does seem sensible, thoughQuote

Not really a surprise though is it? Not sure why this is news as even most titles on the current gen run at 30fps, and last-gen's hardware is even slower than the current gen consoles' Quote

A mate of mine has four kids. Three are boys aged 9-15 and they all have Xbox 360s and they all play COD.

So yeah, basically $$$$$$. If one gets it they all get it. Kerching, £240 from one household alone.Quote
