Call of Duty: Black Ops III's Engine "Torn Apart" to Achieve Beauty at 60 FPS

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is set to be the best looking Call of Duty game to date, with many reports from Gamescom revealing that the increase in visual fidelity does not come at the cost of Call of Duty's constant 60FPS framerate.

Treyarch game design director David Vonderhaar explained that there has been "tremendous" work put into the the game's engine in order to take advantage of the graphical capabilities of new hardware while maintaining a 60FPS framerate.

Improvement's in the games AI engine, UI, lighting and other graphical options were also discussed, with Vonderaar saying that the game engine has been "torn apart" in order to “get all that beautifulness out of it, get all the high poly stuff, get all the shadows and get all the lighting and still run at 60″ frames per second."

PC features for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and it's minimum PC specifications have also recently been revealed, revealing Split Screen Co-op on PC, an FOV Slider and the promise of strong CF and SLI performance.

Black Ops 3 PC features will include:

  • - 100% Ranked Dedicated Servers

  • - Improved Text Chat features available in-game and also now in lobbies.
  • - Fantastic Steam Trading Cards – collect them all!

We also have the game’s minimum system requirements, which are not overly high for a modern game.

  • - Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD Phenom™ II X4 810 @ 2.60 GHz

While we have not seen the PC version of the game in action yet, this PC update from Treyarch is a clear commitment to PC gamers that the studio will release a well made PC version, which is a great thing to see.

I'd thought they'd changed the name to 'call for money, recycled warfare' by now eh? Let me guess, we'll get... Zombies!! So original. Sorry; I couldn't resist ;p

Aren't these games usually poorly optimised? Haven't played one in ages though.Quote

Treyarch thank god!

Looking forward to the proper Zombie mode again. Honestly I think I spend at least 90% of my time with these Treyarch COD titles playing Zombies haha.Quote
