Capcom has announced Umbrella Corp, a new Multiplayer Third person Shooter which offers a variety of both team based and competitive multiplayer modes.

This game comes after the 20th anniversary of of the Resident Evil series and will primarily be about close quarters fighting with both infected hordes and mercenaries. The game is designed to have short, adrenaline fueled matches, where squads must complete objectives while under several restrictions. One mode even gives players one life per round.

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced Umbrella Corps(TM), a new fast paced third person shooter set in the Resident Evil universe. The competitive online game will feature quick, intense matches in compact battle zones themed from historic Resident Evil environments. The game utilizes the Unity engine developed by Unity Technologies.

The game will use traditional guns and grenades, but it will also give players a great deal of rather unique resident evil style weaponry, including a weapon that allows you to use a Zombie as a shield.

Here is a portion of Capcon’s press release for the title, detailing some of the games weapons and game modes.

Umbrella Corps will feature high-intensity team-based matches where players can compete online in a variety of unique close quarter battle modes. Each adrenaline-fueled match will be short and brutal and is designed for quick and engaging play. The game will feature an analog aim and cover system, allowing for more precise control when firing from cover.

In the One Life Deathmatch mode, players must achieve their main objective to take down the other team without any option to re-spawn. One life per round is all a player gets as they must not only face the enemy team but also contend with classic Resident Evil enemies such as zombies that populate each map. Though these can be added threats, they can also be used to a player’s advantage if strategically used to hinder the other team.

In order to face all these threats, players will be equipped with gun and grenade based weaponry as well as specialized gear that add an extra layer of Resident Evil flair to the action. The non-traditional arsenal includes the Brainer (a powerful melee axe which goes straight into the skull), Tactical Shield (an arm-mounted guard allowing players to utilise a zombie as cover), Terrain Spikes (boot-mounted spikes for trampling the enemy), and Zombie Jammer (a device which repels zombies only when active). Players must be quick and strategic in changing up their tactics and weapons to win against the opposing team in this all-out brawl.

Umbrella Corp will be releasing in early 2016 for PS4 and PC for the price of $29.99 or £24.99 and those at the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) will be able to play a Demo of the upcoming title.
