Civilization: Beyond Earth - Rising Tide - "Hybrid Affinities"

Civilization: Beyond Earth's Rising Tide expansion will be adding a lot of new and interesting features, including "hybrid affinities" and a revamped diplomacy system.

We already know that the expansion will be bringing with it new Alien types and and floating cities that can be built on the oceans, bringing the game a much larger amount of variety and playing options. The addition of new factions, or as the game calls them Sponsors, and new Hybrid affinities the game can now move through many more divergent paths, greatly improving the game's replayability.

Discover how to invest in multiple Affinities, rather than specializing in just one as you secure a vision for the future of humanity. Learn more about which path is best for your civilization, as you unlock special hybrid Affinity units along with unique upgrades.

In the base game there is very little to gain by researching several affinities so adding hybrid affinity units and abilities will now allow players to use may more play styles and give players more than 3 technology paths. Will you stay true to a single affinity of decide to mix and match to form a society which precisely matches your goals and desires?

Same here.

Civ is one of the few games I would Pre-order. I always put too many hours into it.Quote

I loved Civ V and I got this preordered as soon as I could because it seemed worthy. However I was super disappointed and tbh was extremely boring. I also think this should have been in the base game, starting/building on water and not be an expansion, you are an extremely advanced race moving to a new planet, they already have the tech it should have been doable from the start. Civ V is still the best Civ for anyone new to the series because imo this was dull. However if this expansion really does make it worth playing again then I'm all for it.Quote

I agree, water building should of been standard but maybe that water is an odd viscosity and it does not behave like normal water im just playing i do definitely agree.

I'm glad a few people are into this maybe do a online hotseat, ive done it with my dad but as soon as he finds it hard he quits, which is a shame because i learnt my tenacity on games he used to be good at.

I've even looked for new versions of old games to get him to play a full game like he loved sudden strike got him a game close to that obvs age of empires and stronghold have hd packs which helps but waiting on Pharaoh!!

But i digress, would be good to explore the DLC as a group.Quote

Let's not forget that Civ 5 was considered a let down/ not as good as Civ 4 before it had two expansions.Quote
