Civilization: Beyond Earth Expansion Rising Tide Announced

Civilization: Beyond Earth Expansion Rising Tide has been announced. Want to take City Building to the high seas? We certainly look forward to trying it.

Rising Tide will be a Expansion in the Traditional sense, not just a simple DLC which adds a singular feature or just a few extra hours onto the original title, it truly innovates the gameplay of the original and should deliver a package that is worth the asking price of £20, at least for those who liked Vanilla or modded Beyond Earth.

Here are a few features of the new Expansion, as detailed in 2K's press release on the game;

  • - Building floating settlements and accessing natural resources hidden beneath the seas of the alien planet, while alien beasts with unique abilities inhabit the water and challenge players in distinctive ways.
  • - Shaping the diplomatic landscape by upgrading traits, changing diplomatic relationships, and leveraging the benefits of your allies, all with political capital.
  • - Unlocking a dynamic set of Diplomatic Traits while activating different combinations in response to the changing world.
  • - Playing as one of four new factions, including the Al Falah, a group of nomad explorers descended from wealthy and resilient Middle Eastern states.
  • - Investing in multiple Affinities to unlock hybrid Affinity units and upgrades for the first time;
  • - Collecting and combining alien relics via a new Artifact System that unlocks powerful benefits
  • - Exploring one of two new biomes, Primordial world, an untamed biome rife with volcanic activity and indicative of a chaotic landscape still forming in the new world

While Beyond Earth has been considered by many as a great game, it has equally been snubbed by many as a game which was not as deep as it's predecessor (When it has all of it's expansions), Civilization 5: A Brave New World.

The new additions this expansion will bring to Beyond Earth will definitely do a lot to increase the depth of this game and increase my playtime beyond the 104 hours that Steam has recorded.

Civilization: Beyond Earths Rising Tide Expansion will arrive in Autumn of this year for the price of £20, though it will require a copy of Beyond Earth to play, as this is an Expansion in the traditional Sense, not DLC.

Personally I really look forward to this expansion, as while I enjoy Beyond Earth I wish it had the depth that Brave New World had. Hopefully this Expansion will satisfy this itch of mine.

I'm in 2 minds about this, will it be worth the asking price? Its almost as much as the game costs, so to have to pay it again for this expansion pack, I think I will more than likely wait until it is on an offer, or comes down drastically in price, but I will want it sooner or later, to expand upon the game I love playing, and then finding out several hours have passed since I started it...Quote

Greenback
Tbh I haven't been able to get into beyond earth I have a habit of going back to civ 5 or EU4, but given that civ 5 improved with the expansions maybe it's what BE needs to make it betterQuote
