Deep Silver has dropped Yager from Dead Island 2's development, but will be continuing to create the game and "Deliver a sequel that Dead Island fans deserve". Will Techland get their baby back after creating Dying Light?

Here is what Deep Silver said in a statement to PCGAMER.

"With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve,"

"After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage."

Right now it remains unclear why Deep Silver has decided to split with Yager, or how it will impact on the launch date and development of Dead Island 2.

Right now it is unclear who will be taking up development of Dead Island 2, but right now I suspect that it will be given back to it's original creators Techland, since they have created the original Dead Island and have since then released the highly acclaimed Dying Light, a similarly themed Zombie game.

I hope Techland get it. I loved Dead Island. Pure B grade movie fun. I actually played through it twice I liked it that much.Quote

Yeah great job, drop a development team that have a talent for making engaging games (Spec Ops) and had the potential to not make your game a buggy, poorly written and generally mediocre game.

Then again, the series is pretty much based on being a let down.Quote
