DirectX 12 support will be officially coming to The Division next week

DirectX 12 support will be officially coming to Tom Clancy's The Division next week, as well as improve performance at high resolutions and heavy CPU loads.

This patch should deliver performance improvements to those who use lower end CPUs and should deliver more DirectX 12 performance optimisations than we have seen in the game's Beta DX12 version, which we found to deliver a decent performance boost on AMD-powered systems.

Below is a statement from Massive regarding this next week's update, which is available to read in full on Steam

Next week we will be deploying a patch on PC to address a multitude of issues.

  • - Fixed the issue that caused the loss of character controls
  • - Lowered performance impact with high CPU usage
  • - Fixed issues with controllers on PC

This patch will also activate DirectX12 which should provide better optimization for higher resolutions. Please note that there is a known issue with DirectX12 where you are not able to change the brightness. We are excited to announce that we will be hosting another Elite Task Force. This time around we will be focusing on PvP balancing and the Dark Zone for Update 1.6. It will be hosted at Red Storm in North Carolina from January 11th to 13th.

DirectX 12 support will be officially coming to The Division next week

Right now we do not know the size or release date of this new patch, though it will certainly be a patch that low-end PC gamers should be excited about.

Be happy

You should have seen the performance drop of my 980tis in DX 12 before I replaced em with 1080s. Its better, but by no means anywhere near what a proper implementation would bring.Quote

It wouldn't help that much unless it was specifically designed for Pascal. As it is, it really only benefits AMD because of there ability to do Compute and Graphic processing concurrently. It could help Nvidia, but there's only so much they can do while they wait for the pipeline to clear up. I bet whatever is after Pascal should solve this problem thoQuote

I dont know. Pascal is defo handling DX12 better than Maxwell. Got worse performance drops with Maxwell.

Might want to read my post properly though. I didnt state that it would help nVidia on the performance side. Dont know what your on about.Quote
