DOOM is now available to Preload on Steam, with a download that is a whopping 43.8GB, which will unpack to take up a total of 55GB of hard drive space. 

Please note that review copies for DOOM will not be released to the press before the game releases on May 13th, leaving some to suspect that the game will launch with some issues. Right now Bethesda states that they did not want to give the game to reviewers before multiplayer servers went live, stating that they did not want review sites to play an incomplete version of the game, but all too often withholding review copies of games is a sign that

Bethesda has confirmed that DOOM will be updated to support the Vulkan API shortly after launch, giving PC gamers a great excuse to wait before they purchase this game. 

Below are the minimum and recommended requirements for DOOM, which will require a minimum of 8GB of RAM and 2GB of VRAM. 

On the CPU side, the devs recommend either an Intel i5-2400 and above or on the AMD side an FX 8320 8-core CPU, with the Intel CPU being bumped up to an i7 and the AMD CPU being bumped to a FX 8350 for the recommended requirements. 

 

Minimum:

  • Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
  • Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better;
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 55 GB free HDD space
  • NVIDIA GTX 670 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better

 

Recommended:

  • Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
  • Intel Core i7-3770/AMD FX-8350 or better;
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 55 GB free HDD space
  • NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB/AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB or better

 

DOOM will be releasing on PC on Friday the 13th of May.

Downloading this baby now. So far from what I can find, it's getting some pretty rave reviews. Can't hardly find any negative reviews about it at all. This is the first day 1 buy I've done in a very long time.....hell I guess since Mass Effect 3 really. I won't get to play it tonight but I'll definitely be playing tomorrow night when I get home from work.Quote
