The Elder Scrolls Online Slays Monthly Subscriptions

The Elder Scrolls Online Slayed the beast that is monthly subscriptions, meaning that players will only need to buy the game in order to play. 

While this does not mean that the game is "free-to-play" it does mean that the game can be played with only a single one off purchase. There will be a ESO Plus membership, which will offer players additional in game gold and bonuses to to player progression and access to DLC for the duration of the membership. DLC can also be purchased with the game's In-Game currency crowns.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is here, allowing you to explore ESO with no game subscription required. Six major game updates have been released since launch, and it’s the perfect time to return to Tamriel to see the new features, adventures, and improvements. Gain more power with the new Champion System, sneak and steal with the Justice System, dye your armor and collect new colors, journey to the first Adventure Zone, test your strength in 12-player Trials—and that’s just the beginning."

Players on the Xbox and Playstation will continue to need a PS Plus or an XBOX Live Subscription to play, but the monthly subscription will no longer be required.

About smegging time! Even while Beta testing it I thought the subscription was a joke.. they should also add in offline and single player options again! It's the one thing I liked about Skyrim, to get some good story playtime without some douche bags ruining the fun.Quote

Ha, after watching the Angry Review on this, I don't even want to play it for free All the people I know who played it have stopped. It could've been so great, with a proper collaboration from bethesda and a company a bit more experienced than Zenimax. This slaying of the monthly subscription seems like the cry of a dying orc.Quote
