Elite: Dangerous getting Multiplayer ships and an Avatar creator

Frontier has announced that Elite: Dangerous will be getting Multi-crew ships and an Avatar creator next year as part of it's upcoming Horizons DLC.

Alongside planet landings and other upcoming content Elite: Dangerous is setting up to become much more content rich facilitate multiplayer many new and more satisfying ways. This is a great thing to see as many of the biggest complaints about Elite is that the game is a massive world that has very little to do in it, so additional and varied content is especially welcome.

"Multi-Crew lets you fly in the same ship with friends, which will up the intensity and camaraderie levels of a joint mission even further!"

"You’ll be able to share and alternate control of weapons systems, turrets and flight duties to multiply your effectiveness. Even to the extent of piloting a ship-launched fighter and working in combination with the mothership. It’ll be especially useful in some of the very large trading ships coming in season two."

With the addition of a lot more personal interaction into the game it was seen as a must to allow players to fully customize their avatars, allowing friends or other players to more easily recognize you and to add some much needed personality to you pilot.

With such a large amount of additional content it is easy to say that Elite: Dangerous will be completely transformed by the addition of it's Horizon's DLC. Hopefully this will allow Elite to continue to grow in popularity and will allow current players to have a little bit more variety.

yeah, one person can be a gunner while the other pilots etc. there is even an option to launch a little fighter from a main ship.

Small quote from the article.
