Experimental DayZ patch adds DirectX 11 support
A few months ago, DayZ developer Bohemia Interactive announced that their game would get DirectX 11 support in the not too distant future. As of now, you can download an experimental patch, build v0.60.132867, which includes the new renderer.

The DirectX 11 version would offer a huge performance increase, particularly in high-density locations like cities. DirectX 11 support was announced a few months ago. Back in March, the DayZ development team uploaded a video detailing the performance comparison between the DirectX 9 build and the DirectX 11 version, which can be seen below.
Aside from DirectX 11 support, the new update adds loads of new things, such as a fishing rod, new clothing, loads of new buildings, a new location and a new infected model.
Keep in mind that this is an experimental build, and thus you can expect major issues. In a forum post, the DayZ Live Test & Support Lead detailing some of the known bugs. These include FPS-drops to zero when clouds are enabled, items permanently disappearing when swapped in the hands slot during actions, and much more. If you're brave enough, however, the patch should already be live on Steam.
