F1 2015 system requirements announced

F1 2015 system requirements have been announced, with the minimum GPU requirements Including Intel GPUs, which is a rare sight.

Judging by the games ,minimum and maximum specifications, it looks like it will scale well on a variety of hardware, being playable on things as low end as Intel Integrated Graphics but still having high enough graphical settings to give even high end GPUs a workout.

  F1 2015 system requirements announced

First up, the minimum, which is pretty low by today's standards.

  • OS: Windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8 64 bit
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3.0GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.2GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel 4th Gen Iris Graphics or AMD HD5770 or NVIDIA GTS450
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible soundcard

And now for the recommended specs, which is fairly high, though I wouldn't exactly compare an Intel iGPU to a R9 290 and a GTX 970.

  • OS: Windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8 64 bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 4770 or AMD FX 9370
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel 5th Gen Iris Pro or AMD R9 290 or Nvidia GTX970
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 20 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Direct X compatible soundcard

It is rare to see such a wide gap between a game's minimum and recommended specifications, but lets hope this means that the game is run well on all setups.

WTF? A 970?!? Are they f***ing crazy? I remember that I could play F1 2014 on fullHD with my iGPU's HD 4600 graphics with med settings. Now they want a 970, which I have, but I do not now a car game that requires so much power. Only NFS games come closer, but I can perfectly run Rivals with my current system on 1080p.Quote

Game is running on a new engine. Probably why the specs were raised a bit.Quote

"New Engine".... it's the same EGO 3.0/4.0 engine they used for Dirt Rally, which is just the spit & polished Dirt 3 EGO 2.0 engine with new physics and shaders bolted on. Adding a number to an existing Engine does not make it "new", as for the system requirements, blah! It'll run exactly the same as the previous games. Now unless they have dramatically increased the poly count of all the models since 2014, *cough* I doubt it, simply due to console hardware restrictions nothing will be different other than lighting and shaders.Quote

PCARS is very demanding when maxed out even with no AA.Quote
