Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster 60FPS mod is in the works

A 60FPS mod is in the works for Final Fantasy X/X-2's HD Remaster on the PC, with 60FPS footage of the modded game already being available online. This mod is currently being made by a modder called Nixshe.

So far the game has been made to run at 60FPS, causing some audio sync and collision issues, but nothing that the modder says is unfixable. The modder even went as far as to call Square Enix lazy for not already implementing 60FPS support for the PC and the previously released PS4 and PS3 versions of the game.

Below are some quotes from the mods developer discussing the issues with 60FPS in game and during cutscenes respectively.

there is still some collision issues but nothing that can't be fixed. if square was just a little less lazy it could have already been done

so i wanted to see if the animation and audio issues were fixable. turns out they are. however i have to edit every individual cutscene and so far i only have the intro.

I have been playing a lot of Final Fantasy X/X-2's HD remaster since it released on PC, but after spending the days prior working on our DOOM PC performance overview the locked 30FPS framerate a shock to the system that almost made the game unplayable.

I hope that Nixshe is successful in creating a 60FPS mod for the PC version of Final Fantasy X/X-2's HD Remaster, as right now a lot of PC gamers argue that emulating the original PS2 version at 60FPS is currently the best way to play these games.

TBH I was playing this game last night and the animations looked very jerky to me.

I could play the game fine, but the judder would tear me from the experience at times.

TBH i think if the emulated PS2 version can run at 60 the "remaster" should.Quote

it is the same limit that is in the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game.

thePS2 was also capped to 30, but that was due to hardware limitations. The remaster is capped due to laziness.

People with the PS2 emulator can run this at 60 with no issues, so Squeenix should have put in the effort.Quote

Very annoying I was really looking forward to playing this game when I get my new GPU but at 30fps that's a deal breaker for me at least till either square enix or this Modder fix the issue.

Real shame unfortunately square have a habit of being lazy with game portsQuote
