Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10 Preview

The PC version of Halo 5 - Forge: Guardians Edition has been showcased at the Rooster Teeth Expo (RTX), showcasing the PC versions file browser, built-in tutorials and more.

Microsoft has already announced that Halo's Forge map editor will be coming to Windows 10 later this year, allowing Halo players to edit and play new maps on the PC for use with the Xbox One version of the game. This is the first time the PC version of Forge has been shown, highlighting some of the differences between the PC and console versions of Forge.

This editor will be available on the Windows 10 store for free and allow Halo fans to edit maps at higher resolutions, with more precise mouse and keyboard controls and allow friends to come in and test your new build on the PC.

Below are a few PC exclusive features that will be available on the PC version of Forge - Halo 5: Guardian's Edition.

  • - Keyboard & Mouse Support – For the first time ever, Forgers will have the option of using a keyboard & mouse allowing for more precision control than ever.
  • - Increased Resolution – Support for multiple resolutions including 4k.
  • - Test and Play with Friends – Enlist the help of Friends to help build, test, and play your Forge creations on Windows 10.
  • - Build on Windows 10 and Publish to Xbox One – Experiences built on Windows 10 can be published to and played on Xbox One, opening the doors for countless new experiences to be enjoyed by players all over the world.

With the ability to build and supposedly test/play your new Halo 5 Forge maps on PC, many PC gamers will be no doubt wondering how far off Microsoft are from actually releasing a new Halo game on the PC platform, as testing a Halo 5 map on the PC is at least a step towards a possible PC port/release.

Right now Microsoft has already announced that all of their future first party titles will be coming to Windows 10 PC, which will include Halo 6, though there have been no announcements regarding a PC version of Halo 5 or The Master Chief Collection.
