Forza Motorsport 6: Apex PC System Requirements

The PC system requirements have been announced for Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, which is said to be able run at 60FPS 4K on a GTX 980Ti or Fury X.

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex's open beta will arrive on the Windows 10 store on May 5th, bringing Forza to a whole new audience with full DirectX 12 support and a detailed graphical options menu.

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will be Windows 10 Exclusive, bringing the ForzaTech engine to PC for the first time. The game will include 63 cars at launch and 20 different track configurations across 6 total locations.

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex PC System Requirements

The game will require a Quad thread CPU as a minimum and 8GB of system memory, with a storage requirement of 30GB. Strangely at 4K this game recommends that you install the game on an SSD, likely making this the first game that actually recommends that you do not use mechanical storage when running at high graphical settings.

On the GPU side the game is said to run on a GTX 740 or R7 250X or higher, with a minimum of 2GB of VRAM, with the requirements jumping to a GTX 970 or a GTX 290X for 1080p 60FPS Gameplay. The game is also said to be able to run at 4K 60FPS with the GTX 980Ti or R9 Fury X, though we will need to test these claims at launch.

The game will only run in DirectX 12, meaning that only systems with relatively modern GPUs will be able to run this game, the developers also recommends an Xbox One controller to play the game, as there will be no Steering wheel support at launch.

It's a UWP game. So I'd like to see if it is plagued by those related issues more than a specs list.Quote

Hardly pointless if you just want to mess around in some cars for a bit. I've got Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One as one of those games I can just zone out to; no thought, no pressure. It's great when I feel burnt out with other more serious titles or don't want to deal with PvP competition.

I'll probably really appreciate having Apex installed on my PC; it brings me one step closer to removing consoles from my life completely assuming this is setting the precedent of having future Forza titles on Windows. Now if only Microsoft would bring Halo across. Damn nostalgia making me want to play those games...Quote
