Futuremark announces VRMARK, the virtual reality system benchmark

Futuremark has announced their new VRMARK virtual reality benchmark, allowing PC gamers to accurately test whether or not their system is VR ready for both standard VR experiences and high-fidelity VR experiences.

This benchmark will be split into two separate tests, Orange Room, which tests whether or not your system meets the performance requirements for the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive and the Blue Room benchmark which is designed to test a higher fidelity VR experience to simulate future VR gaming workloads.

Right now the Free version of VRMARK offers gamers the ability to use the Orange room test, with the paid for £14.99 version coming with the Blue Room test and several customisation options for more intensive testing scenarios.

During the first week of sale on Steam VRMARK will be available with a 25% discount, with owners of 3DMARK on Steam getting an additional 25% off their purchase.

My vote is that it is a joke for the price of VR, as Futuremark stuff is super cheap on sale.Quote

I suppose that was me being slow then.

Personally I still find VR gaming a passing phase like 3Dtv or Nvidia 3D vision. Games will always be made, but I dont feel that AAA title will ever shine.Quote

Once gaming becomes like in the movie "Gamer", then VR ain't really truly VR Quote
