Futuremark Release 3DMARK Time Spy DirectX 12 Benchmark

Almost everyone with an interest in PC gaming has heard of 3DMARK, the application that is easily the most popular and widely used PC performance benchmarks on the market. It has been used in countless reviews over the years and has over time became a name that can be associated with almost every major PC hardware release.

With DirectX 12 starting to appear in modern games Futuremark needed to step up and create a tool that can fairly represent and compare a wide range of hardware on the new API, allowing gamers and hardware enthusiasts to compare their system and easily judge their performance gains while overclocking.

Time Spy has been built from the ground up to make the best use of DirectX 12, supporting explicit Multi-GPU, Asynchronous Compute and the heavy Multi-threading that DirectX 12 can provide. The basic edition of this benchmark will come free to all current owners of 3DMARK, with the full version coming as a DLC/add-on for the application.

In this new benchmark, Futuremark will be giving gamers a glimpse of a lot of classic 3DMARK environments, over time increasing the complexity of the scene and giving your system a tough gaming load.

Below is a few screenshots from the trailer above, showcasing what will be some familiar environments for some, particularly if you have been benchmarking for a number of years.

It kinda angers me. I already paid for the benchmark entirely, why do I need to buy an additional benchmark for it? If they wanted to charge for it they should have made it a separate version all together, they basically lied when they said it's free for current users. It's not. Anyone can get the free version. Not one person gets the paid one for freeQuote

You paid for the previous benchmarks, if they keep releasing new benchmarks for free they'll be out of business fairly soon.Quote
