Gigabyte have released their super compact GTX 960 WF2X GPU, which will be just 18.1 cm in length and will be using Gigabyte's new WindForce X2 GPU cooler.

This GPU will be available in 2GB and 4GB models and will be shipped with a factory overclocked core speed of 1190MHz and a core boost clock of 1253MHz, which is a nice bump from Nvidia's reference base and boost clocks of 1127/1178MHz. The memory on this GPU will be at Nvidia's standard frequency of 7.00GHz.

This GPU will be cooled by Gigabyte's WindForce X2 GPU cooler, which consists of a 8mm thick heat pipe which passed through both ends of an aluminium heat stack is an "S" shaped configuration.

The GPU will have two DVI display outputs, a single HDMI 2.0 and a single Displayport 1.2. The GPU will be powered by a single 6-pin PCI power, making this a compact and low power offering from Gigabyte.

With the growing popularity of small form factor PCs it is great to see that all major GPU brands are now embracing these new smaller form factors. Hopefully as GPU power efficiency and thermal efficiency improves we will see increasingly powerful GPUs in these form factors.

AMD will soon be releasing their R9 Fury Nano GPU later this year, which will be only 7.5 inches long and will have 2x the power efficiency of AMD's R9 290X and will have a TDP of 175W. With GPUs like his coming in the future the potential of Mini ITX and even smaller form factor PCs have never been this high.
