Today, we are pleased to announce an important and long-term partnership with Futuremark, the Finnish developer of performance benchmarking tests for PC, tablets, smartphones, and VR systems.

Greenlight VR, the top research and analyst firm focused on the virtual reality industry, and Futuremark, creators of VRMark, will share information about system performance, latency, and accuracy of various VR hardware. Greenlight VR analysts will use VRMark to analyse various virtual reality systems’ ability to deliver high quality virtual reality experiences for a range of content types from photos and video to games and simulations.

“This is a distinctive capability for our research team to have at its disposal,” says Greenlight VR CEO Clifton Dawson. “Being exclusively focused on the virtual reality industry allows us to focus on solving the critical challenges confronting the industry right now. We are lucky to find a partner in Futuremark and their parent company, UL, that is as committed to solving the industry’s problems with credible information and rigorous analysis.”

Jukka Mäkinen, Managing Director at Futuremark says, “With more than a dozen dedicated VR headsets in development, and countless smartphone-based solutions, VR’s early adopters are faced with a baffling array of specifications and choice. That’s why Futuremark is delighted to partner with Greenlight VR to produce independent testing, research and analysis of virtual reality systems by providing its VRMark benchmarking tools, technical insight and advice.”

VRMark will be used in the upcoming 2016 Global Outlook report, where Greenlight VR will assess the outlook for virtual reality hardware, among all facets of the virtual reality industry in 2016 and beyond.

Futuremark’s VRMARK is currently in development and will release in 2015.
