Halo 5: Forge has a locked framerate on PC

This morning we have spent some time playing Halo 5: Forge on the PC, in order to deliver our readers with a report on how good the PC version of the game is. has a locked framerate of either 30 or 60 on PC, only runs in fullscreen windowed mode and lacks support for 21:9 resolution.

While on our test system with an R9 Fury X the game was playable at max settings, we found that there were several disappointing aspects that disappointed us. Halo 5: Forge runs at a locked max framerate of either 30 or 60 FPS on PC, which will disappoint those of us who enjoy using a 144Hz or other high display refresh rates. only runs in fullscreen windowed mode and lacks support for 21:9 resolution.

The game also only runs in fullscreen windowed mode and lacks support for 21:9 resolution like 2560x1080 or 3440x1440 and does not include an FOV slider.

To play Halo Multiplayer using this application you will need to connect to your friends using your Microsoft account and form a party in-game, as right now a server browser is not available on Halo 5: Forge. Those who want to play multiplayer will need to host the game themselves and group together enough players in order to fill an online game.

Meh. Knowing Skyrim and Fallout 4 start crapping out above 60Hz and not being much of a multiplayer gamer I've accepted the 60Hz standard. I'm pushing for a higher resolution on my system rather than framerates. 60Hz is perfectly fine. Shame it doesn't support higher for those who want it though.Quote

Not surprised though. It's not a full on port and the graphics are in line with the Xbox One version, they seem like they are just trying to keep everything the same. Faster and easier for them. Think the only benefit we get is full 60FPS instead of only campaign(MP/Forge is capped at 30 for console).Quote
