Screenshots for Halo Wars 2 have leaked online, showcasing a lot of familiar Halo units and some great visuals. All of these images are 1080p, hinting that they are from the Xbox One version of the game.

The developers of the game have already confirmed that the game will have a fully playable demo at E3. Halo Wars 2 has already been confirmed to be coming to both PC and Xbox One later this year.

Being a Microsoft published title the game will likely work using the DirectX 12 API and will almost certainly be coming to PC as a Windows Store Exclusive, using Microsoft's controversial UWP program along with it.

In these screenshots we can see a lot of familiar units from the Halo universe, from the Covenant's Grunts, Elites and Banshees to the UNSC's Warthog, Mantis and Pelican. We can also see what looks a lot like a Command and Conquer 3 style mammoth tank, with two barrels at the front and dual rocket pods.

Earlier today it was leaked on the Xbox Live Storefront that Halo Wars 2 will be having an open multiplayer beta, which is set to begin on June 13th and end on June 20th. Right now Microsoft has not confirmed this event and we do not know if this beta will also be coming to PC.

Really interested in this game. I'm not surprised we don't have any UI in the screenshots. Really curious how CA are going to handle this part of the game. Will they keep to a TW style or will they branch out and use some C&C/S2 style with something close to the previous Halo War game? Can't wait to see it. A bad UI for a RTS game can kill it.Quote

Bit of repeat on the second part there. If only they would make another C&C. Tiberius wars and generals etc were great. Only PITA was the lag after the game goes on for a while along with the 30fps cap. Not limited to C&C but a complaint nonetheless.Quote
