Time to load up your silverballers! Square Enix announced a new Hitman game during the Sony press conference, and earlier today they gave us more information on the upcoming stealth game during their own press conference, including a release date. The next installment in the Hitman franchise, conveniently named ‘Hitman’, will launch December 8th, just a week after Square Enix’s own Just Cause 3.

Hitman will take a different approach to simulating assassination than the older Hitman games. According to Christian Elverdam, Creative Director at IO Interactive, Hitman will invite players into a live and ever expanding world of assassination, where new content will be released on a regular interval and will continue to grow and evolve over time. Hitman will supposedly be more hardcore than before too. If a target escapes, so be it. (S)he isn’t coming back. The way a target dies is permanent too. Not satisfied with the way you did the deed? Too bad.

The game will be more diverse too. Square Enix stated that every single level will be a sandbox experience with complete freedom of approach. Outcomes of hits can range from bloody murder to a well-planned, silent assassination.

The last announcement Square Enix made about Hitman was that the contracts mode has been improved, but not much details were shared on this. You can see the E3 trailer for yourself below.

Sooo many games, yet so little time to play them.

As long as this plays like Blood Money rather than the utter joke which was absolution then I'll be very happy.Quote
