Knights of the Old Republic II Get updated 10 Years after Launch - again

Recently Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II was given a major update, over 10 years after the games original launch, gaining controller support, widescreen resolution support, Steam cloud saves, full Steam Workshop Mod support and more.

Now the game has received a new update, adding 20 new Steam achievements and fixes several game bugs and issues on the Mac, Linux and Windows PC versions.

Aspyr in partnership with Disney Interactive and LucasArts is proud to announce STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic™ II - The Sith Lords™ is now available on Mac and Linux, along with a massive update to all 3 platforms.

Knight's of the Old Republic II Get updated 10 Years after Launch

New features to the game include (From previous update):

• 37 achievements to be earned through gameplay
• Steam Cloud saves
• Native widescreen resolution support
• Resolution support up to 4K and 5K
• Support for controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation
3, and Playstation 4, along with several others (check the system requirements for details)
• Steam Workshop support! We proudly worked with the Restored Content Mod Team to have their famous TSLRCM up on launch day.

Universal Changes:

  • • Added 20 user-generated achievements (see pinned thread for details)
  • • Fixed an issue with Pet Rock achievement not unlocking in TSLRCM
  • • Fixed a crash when adding more than five mods
  • • Fixed two issues tied to Mouse Look
  • • Fixed an issue with the controller menu appearing on top of dialog screens
  • • Fixed an issue with Kreia not disappearing properly on Korriban
  • • Fixed a shader issue causing NPC droid eyes to not be illuminated
  • • Fixed an issue with alternate dialog not appearing after multiple play-throughs
  • • Changed the behavior of the Light/Dark Side point achievements

Mac-specific Changes:

  • • Fixed a crash connected to the M4-78 mod

Windows-specific Changes:

  • • Fixed multiple issues with a spinning camera when certain third-party devices are connected
  • • Fixed multiple issues connected to DPI Scaling
  • • Fixed an issue with the screen being offset on high refresh-rate monitors
  • • Fixed an issue with sounds continuously repeating after moving away from the sound source

Linux-specific Changes:

  • • Change to cloud-saves, automatically lower-casing files so they can be read on Linux

As a big Star Wars fan this recent set of updates have made me very excited, as I firstly had never played KOTOR II before the last update and secondly that this game, which is considered by many as a classic, was brought up to date with wide resolution support and Steam Workshop mods for free.

Patching a game to this extent over 10 years after launch is great to see. With such a large update it would be easier to describe this patch as a full on HD Remaster, as this game has no doubt has had more effort put into it than recent HD remasters like the Prototype collection.

Game play glitches and fixes are all well and good, we kind of already knew the work arounds for most of these. What I'd like to see is a complete graphics & model overhaul.Quote

This game is strange to me. Sometimes I really really want to play it, level up, do some hutball. I get hyped about it, start working on my character and somewhere around level 10 it all disappears and so do I for a few months, then I restart it all again.Quote

FINALLY! Cloud Saves!

That and Steam Workshop support? Fantastic! BioWare kicking ass as usual!

I'll probably have to play this again meow... with support up to 4K UHD resolutions? I'm gonna have to tinker with downscaling to make it look even sharper.Quote
