Just recently the studio behind the Metal Gear franchise, Kojima Productions, disbanded. It’s no secret that Konami and Hideo Kojima have been having disputes over the last few months. Konami deleted Kojima’s name from Metal Gear Solid V’s official site a few months ago, and now they have removed all Kojima branding from the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s box art, as noticed by a member of NeoGAF.

Of course Kojima’s studio has been disbanded, but they did the majority of the work on the game. We’re not sure what happened, but it’s becoming more and more apparent that Kojima has been shafted by Konami.

You can see and compare the covers for yourself below.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launches 1 September this year on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC version launching on the 15th of September. Unless Konami decides to throw this game away, of course. We’ll just have to wait for more info.
