LG's CES TV Lineup will focus on HDR compatibility

LG's CES TV Lineup will focus on HDR compatibility, increasing their color accuracy and giving much richer contrast to provide users with a much better viewing experiences.

HDR is expected to be one of the biggest talking points for this years CES, with AMD having already announced support for the technology with their current generation GPUs. By providing users with better on-screen visuals HDR is expected to become the next big thing for both the TV and monitor markets, offering an increase in visual fidelity with no real increase in the GPU grunt required to power it.

LG is calling their HDR technology HDR-Plus with their new Color Prime Plus technology and Ultra Luminescence Technology in order to provide users with the best Colour and contrast possible, though time will tell how much of this is truth and how much is marketing speak.

LG will be showing several HDR compliant 4K displays at CES, with the UH9500, UH8500, and UH7700 with sizes from 49 to 86 inches. All these new TVs will use their new webOS 3.0 software, which will be more feature rich and faster running than their previous Smart TV software.

AMD's Next GPU architecture will be called Polaris

DSR is supported in AMD's R9 300 series of GPUs or newer and will be able to be used on existing HDMI 1.4B or DisplayPort 1.2 cables, though sadly DSR at 4K 60Hz will be limited to only AMD's upcoming 2016 lineup of GPUs due to cable bandwidth limitations.

Right now Nvidia has not announced support for HDR.

My savings have already started for my new TV, going 4k this year. So far the 55EF950V from LG is currently winning, lets see if anything from CES will take its place.Quote
