On PC and Xbox One gamers have been happily modding Fallout 4 for months, with PS4 gamers waiting patiently for support to be added to their platform.

Now Bethesda has confirmed that mod support for both Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Remastered will not be coming to PS4 after Sony blocked full modding support on the platform.

Bethesda has been in talks with Sony for a long time to implement modding support on the PS4, with the company stating that they are ready to implement modding support for the PS4 and that Sony only needs to give them their permission.

After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition

Right now Sony is a little behind the times with the PS4, lacking any form of Early Access and now lacking modding support on the PS4 platform.

As it stands it is likely that these decisions will hurt Sony in the long run, as the availability of Early Access games and modding support are now big selling points for the Xbox One. This combined with 4K Blu-Ray support on Microsoft's newest Xbox One models makes the PS4 seem like a much less attractive purchase.

No Sony just flat out said no to mods. Doubt a new console changes that answer tbhQuote

once you can change code on software in console games they become incredibly easy to manipulate and exploit.
Its just better to leave it alone like that.Quote
