MSI Unveils GeForce GTX 980 Ti V1 GPU

MSI has just unveiled a GTX 980Ti with a non-reference blower design cooler. This is MSI's own custom version of Nvidia's reference design, the only real differences being the materials used in the GPU cooler shroud design and a few PCB components.

MSI's changes to the GTX 980Ti's reference design allows them to produce a GPU which is cheaper than that of Nvidia's reference GTX 980 Ti GPUs, while maintaining the same reference clock speeds and boost frequencies or 1000MHz and 1076MHz.

What MSI have produced here is a cheaper option for the GTX 980Ti, which will have the same performance of the Nvidia reference solution but sacrifice on the Nvidia reference aesthetics.

But how much cheaper? If someone's happy to pay for a 980ti this model would have to be significantly cheaper to tempt them away from a reference design - at least 10% cheaper I'd think.Quote

Replace the "GTX 980ti" and MSI stickers with Hello Kitty ones and you are pretty much ready to roll! Quote

A sticker as oppose to some brushed aluminium is always going to look like "In my opinion" but if you just want a fast graphics card which is going to sit in a closed windowless case and is never going to be overclocked then why the hell not.
Personally I think we need cards like this for the people who don't care about aesthetics, and saying that I'm from Doncaster and I'm usually tight as , but when it comes to my PC I just want it to look the balls and go like stink.
