Need for Speed PC System Requirements Announced

The System Requirements for the PC version of Need for Speed have been announced, with the developers even telling us the resolutions, framerates and settings that the recommended specifications are for.

The developers had this to say when they had announced the Need for Speed PC requirements and supported steering wheels.

Last week was an exciting time for us as we lifted the lid on the PC version of Need for Speed, coming March 17. Amongst all the excitement and discussion you've been having about 4K visuals, Manual Transmission, Wheel Support and the unlocked framerate, there's one topic we see popping up with some frequency. Below you'll find not only the minimum and recommended system specs but also the list of supported steering wheels.

Need for Speed PC System Requirements Announced

In my opinion I believe that is is huge progress to see a game not just release a set of requirements for the game, but also tell us the settings, resolution and framerate that they expect it to run at, which very useful information.

Here we can see that a CPU with 4 threads and a GTX 750Ti or a HD 7850 can be expected to run at 720p 30FPS and a higher end system with a GTX 970 or an R9 290 can be expected to run at 1080p 60 at high settings.

Sadly it seems that this game is going to be very demanding, needing a GTX 970 or an R9 290 for playing this game at a resolution of 1080p. With these specifications I think that it is safe to say that this game will not run very well at higher resolutions on current hardware, especially at 4K.

Minimum Requirements for 720p30 at low settings:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or later
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-4130 or equivalent with 4 hardware threads
  • Memory: 6GB RAM
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB, AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB, or equivalent DX11 compatible GPU with 2GB of memory
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB free space

Recommended Requirements for 1080p60 at high settings:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or later
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4690 or equivalent with 4 hardware threads
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB, AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB, or equivalent DX11 compatible GPU with 4GB of memory
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB free space

We also have a list of supported steering wheels for the PC platform.

  • - Logitech G27
  • - Logitech G29
  • - Logitech G920
  • - Thrustmaster TX
  • - Thrustmaster T150
  • - Thrustmaster T300
  • - Thrustmaster T500
  • - Fanatec CSR

Hi Ralm you'll find all the info at www.needforspeed.com or via ghostgames.com.

It's mentioned in the article that the info came from the developer (Ghost Games) however yes it could have been made clearer (Edit - it's actually linked in the quote section but it's a bit hard to pick out)Quote
