Nvidia may be set to announce a mobile GTX 1080 GPU, with a soon to be launched MSI laptop reportedly using two of these new GPUs.

The mobile GTX 1080 GPU is set to use the same 8GB GDDR5X frame buffer but will likely ship with slightly lower clock speeds than Nvidia's desktop counterpart. With the current mobile flagship from Nvidia being the GTX 980 the mobile GTX 1080 will offer around a 2x improvement in terms of pure performance, which is revolutionary for the mobile market.

I thought they were going to stop with the mobile line and just use the full fledged gpu in mobiles from now on as they were getting so energy efficient and produced less heat.Quote
