Oculus appoints new Chief Operating Officer

Brendan Iribe, CEO of Oculus, has announced that his company has appointed a new COO. Hans Hartmann, who is currently Chief Operating Officer at FitBit, will take on the same job at the VR-company.

Iribe stated that Hartmann 'brings decades of industry experience, and joins us from Fitbit, where he has been the Chief Operations Officer for the past 5 years.'

Hartmann's appointment might be a response to Oculus' recent launch debacle. The company has been on the hit list for delayed shipments to pre-order holders. Many customers who pre-ordered the VR headset as soon as the possibility arose are still waiting for their hardware, even though the first shipments started more than a month ago.

To make matters worse, Oculus will start selling the Rift at select retailers this week. Naturally, early adopters didn't take this matter lightly, and publicly spoke out their frustration towards Oculus' way of handling pre-orders.

Oculus has appointed a new COO

Oculus' current COO, Laird Malamed, won't leave the company. Malamed will be taking on a 'new executive role,' where he will help Oculus in 'bringing virtual reality to millions around the world.'
