Plex Cloud now lets you create your own cloud media library

Plex Cloud now lets you create your own cloud media library with the help of Amazon Drive, effectively allowing Plex users to create their own personal Netflix-like service on the cloud.

Traditionally Plex users would need to build/create their own server providing the necessary computational power, bandwidth and storage to host and stream their own content. With Plex Cloud, all of that effort has been moved to Amazon's Drive service, which means that you no longer need to host your own media, pay the running and startup costs or deal with data redundancy.

Plex Cloud users will need to have an Amazon Drive subscription, which will cost around $60 per year in the US or £55 per year in the UK. Your Plex account will then need to be linked to your Amazon Drive account in order to access your media.

Right now Plex Could is a feature that is only available in beta to those who register interest in this new feature, though signing up does not automatically enrol you in the beta. Hopefully, this new feature will be complete and exit beta soon, as I would personally be very interested in hosting my media on the cloud with Amazon and Plex.

Signed up for an invite to that.

If amazon can get their together and sort out their apps, (the android app is gash) I'd be happy to move away from dropbox, onedrive AND google drive for 55 a year and unlimited space... HAPPILY

Unfortunately the apps are still too crap, hopefully now dropbox have moved away they can start pumping some money into it and make them better.Quote
