Project Revive brings back Battlefield 2142's multiplayer

EA shut down the Battlefield 2142's servers back in 2014, bringing an end to a multiplayer experience that has pleased PC gamers since 2006.  Game servers cannot be run forever, eventually costing more to operate than what publishers are willing to accept.

For a long time, fans have worked to bring several multiplayer games back to life with unofficial servers, with the Team behind the Battlefield 2 Revive project finally turning their heads to Battlefield 2142.

Now Project Revive has put up servers for Battlefield 2142, which includes an in-game ranking system and functioning leaderboards. During peak hours the game currently has over 400 active players, allowing gamers to easily fill game servers and battle like it's 2006.

At this time EA has not acted on the team's previous Battlefield 2 Revival Project, so a legal takedown of Battlefield 2142 seems unlikely, which means that nothing should get in the way of your futuristic 64 player online battles.

I remember the huge gunship community back in the days when 2142 was hot. Remembering how I for once was one of the best in Europe on the gunships, loved that game! (No bragging here)Quote
