R9 Fury X Reaches 1215MHz with Voltage Tweak

Right now overclocking AMD's R9 Fury series is rather limited, with voltage locked and memory overclocking being completely restricted. This has left many overclockers very disappointed, as AMD's reference R9 Fury X design includes a water cooler which is more than capable of handling additional heat output.

Below are a collection of 3DMARK performance Scores using a Modified version of AMD Afterburner to control the AMD Fury X's voltage. The user reported issues using his 1215MHz frequency in certain tests, but he claims that these issues are driver related.

R9 Fury X Reaches 1215MHz with Voltage Tweak

With several 3DMARK scores to back up this overclockers claims, I have no issue believing that this overclock is legitimate, but right now it is unknown when voltage adjustment will come to a full release of MSI afterburner or any other overclocking utility.

If Voltage adjustment and memory overclocking were options for AMD's R9 Fury series of GPU I have no doubt that they would be a much more sought after item, especially given how well Nvidia's Maxwell architecture can overclock.

I've never understood why these people don't use recent benchmarks... why use 3DM V and Skydiver?

I also hope this works, I'm weary of how it'll mess with chip.Quote

I would like to see 4K gaming benchmarks for the overclocked Fury X. We all know that the Fury X performs pretty poorly at 1080p compared to the 980ti (980ti at 1,541mhz is about 20% faster in Skydiver) but at 4K the Fury X at stock is comparable to a 980ti at stock.Quote

probably hit a bios forced TDP limit or heat issues with anything OVERLY strenuous.Quote
