Retail listing gives the Oculus Touch a high price tag

On a retail listing at the German retailer Media Markt the Oculus Touch has been listed at the price of 200 Euros, making the motion tracked controllers much more expensive than was originally anticipated by VR fans.

This makes the price of the Oculus Rift and its Touch motion tracked controllers roughly equivalent to the HTC Vive, which comes with motion controls at stock.

Media Markt has already acted as a distributor for Oculus, making this listing look very credible, though Oculus us yet to announce the pricing of their Oculus Touch VR motion controllers.  The Oculus Touch will not only include two VR motion controller but also include an additional motion sensor, which goes part of the way to justifying this high price.

Oculus is unlikely to officially announce the pricing of their Touch controllers until Oculus Connect 3 conference later this year, though, for now, it looks like this Oculus accessory will be expensive.

So all of this "but the screens are expensive so it's totally not a con" from the fanboys was utter tripe then. I don't see any screens in those nor any parts that are not freely available anywhere. You get gyros and motion sensors in £20 phones these days.

I'm still waiting for the Chinese rip offs for £100. I saw something the other week for £150 but didn't take the plunge.Quote
