The HTC Vive's biggest downfall is its strap design, though that has now changed thanks to rEvolve, a new PSVR-style Vive Strap that offers a unique flip-up feature.

One of the biggest critiques that most users have against the HTC Vive is its strap, which some describe as "like strapping a brick to your face", forcing the full weight of the Vive in a goggle-like setup which can be uncomfortable during prolonged use.

The rEvolve changes things up by moving the mass from the user's face onto the user's forehead, which is a much more natural place to place the mass of the HTC Vive.

This is not only more comfortable for prolonged gaming/usage, but also gives the rEvolve strap a unique "flip-up" feature that will allow users to easily re-enter the real world to talk to friends, eat or drink or simply find your controllers if you drop them.

Often you need to interact with the real world quickly and then hop back into VR.

Previously you would have to totally remove the headset, take care of the small item, and then put on and readjust the headset.

The rEvolve fixes this by allowing the headset to flip up or down at a moment's notice. So it will be an effortless experience the next time you are talking to someone, taking a drink, troubleshooting, or just trying to see where you are facing.

Right now the rEvolve Vive head strap is on Kickstarter and ships to end users for the price of $85, with planned shipping dates of April 2017. The Kickstarter campaign has raised over $19,000, which is almost 4x the developers initial funding goal.

Very interested by this. Was looking forward to the deluxe strap being released, but depending on pricing and availability of that and this, new strap for Vive later in the year for me!

May even just back this soonQuote
