Scan's RTX 3070 "Tent Man" gets rewarded for his dedication - Given free RTX 3080

As we reported earlier today, Scan UK's Bolton offices were camped by an eager tech enthusiast who hoped to get his hands on Nvidia's latest graphics card, the Geforce RTX 3070.

While camping outside a warehouse on a cold late-October night in the north of England may seem unwise to most folks, dedicated hardware enthusiasts should know how challenging it is to purchase newly released hardware on day 1. A mere two hours after the release of Nvidia's RTX 3070 graphics card, all graphics cards have, apparently, disappeared from the UK's online storefronts. If you want to purchase an RTX 3070 on day-1, you need to be both lucky and dedicated.

Scan's "Tent Man", a local Hardware enthusiast called Matt Hunter, did what he needed to do to ensure that he got the graphics card he wanted. Seeing this, Scan's Founder and Chairman, Shailendra Shelley Raja, made sure that Matt was treated to breakfast this morning, and made sure that he got more than what he was looking for.

Seeing this level of enthusiasm for hardware brought members of the UK's tech industry together. Scan's hardware partners wanted to give Matt something for his efforts, rewarding his dedicating with acts of generosity. Shelley, the kingpin of Scan's operations, brought these hardware partners together to contribute towards getting Matt a free RTX 3080 graphics card.

Below, you can see Scan's Shailendra Shelley Raja (Right) with "Tent Man" Matt Hunter and his new Zotac Trinity RTX 3080 graphics card. It's good to see that Scan's taking social distancing seriously.

Below is what Scan's Shailendra Shelley Raja had to say following today's events;

  So here he is the "Tent Man" Matt Hunter.

After my post of the tent and him camping out to get his 3070 a lot of our partners asked me to give him free stuff, mouse mats, ssd's keyboards etc. all that for doing what he did. Thanks for that but.. I've souped it up by getting them all to contribute for Matt to get a 3080 instead! Because we (s)Can!

Massive thanks to:

Nice. So they magicked a 3080 out of their arse that supposedly they don't have to give to this guy, yet still retain their customer's cash whilst they wait on stock.

Nice advertising, Scan.Quote

It'll be from system building stocks, not the retail queue ... least I hope so.

Anyway, we now know at least 1 person has got a 3080 !Quote
