Scott Wasson Joins AMD Radeon Technologies

Scott Wasson, Editor and Chief of The Tech Report, has now joined AMD to improve their testing methods and improve the user experience on AMD Radeon Graphics.

To be more specific, Scott Wasson was contacted by AMD's Raja Koduri, the head of AMD's newly Radeon Technologies group and was asked if he would like to join AMD to help implement the frame-time-based testing methods for game performance that he developed and championed over  at The Tech Report. After seeing Raja's passion for doing things right and desire to create a better experience for AMD Graphics users Scott decided to take AMD up on this unique job opportunity, helping to ensure that AMD will create the best possible user experience for gamers in the future.

In the end, this opportunity was simply too good to pass up. Early in the new year, I will be joining AMD in my new role. As a result, I'll be stepping down as Editor-in-Chief of The Tech Report.

  Scott Wasson Joins AMD

AMD's Radeon Technologies group has already delivered a great deal of improvements for AMD graphics users with their new Radeon Software Crimson drivers, enabling frame Pacing support for DirectX 9 titles, enabling low framerate compensation technology (LFC) for AMD FreeSync users and have already promised to develop and release more stable and frequent driver updates in the future.

AMD is a company which has been having many challenges over the past number of years, but with the formation of the new Radeon technologies group and AMD's renewed focus on GPUs and the next Generation of FinFET based CPUs and GPUs coming next year 2016 is set to be a very interesting time for the company.

Scott Wasson will be joining AMD in January of Next year and hopefully his long time experience critically looking at both AMD and Nvidia products at the reviewers table and his expert knowledge of Frametime testing methods will prove invaluable to AMD in the future.

I'm really impressed with AMD's recent announcements. They really seem to be trying to create a good customer experience. Whether or not they manage to execute this correctly or not is another matter :PQuote

So far as I can tell, Koduris leadership under the new Tech Group is truly the best management decision AMD has made in a long time. He's been in charge in less than 6 months and he's in my opinion made this GPU segment of AMD the brightest spot of the company with the best future and capabilities to succeed. He clearly cares because he's starting to recruit some reviewers( believe one from Anand went) to improve there software side, so they know they need to improve and getting respected talent to do it is smart management to me..

Then there's the other part of AMD.. then that marketing team that's oh so bad.. that needs all the help it can get

I'm eager to see what Scott can do for there drivers. Probably won't see any of his work until I'd say March howeverQuote
