TEAMGROUP launches T-FORCE CARDIA A440 Pro Special Series SSDs with PS5 Compatibility

In response to the release of Sony's SSD requirements for their PlayStation 5 console, TEAMGROUP has revealed a new SSD that will be launched under their T-FORCE gaming brand, the T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Pro Special Series (PS5) M.2 PCIe SSD.

While the company's existing CARDEA A440 Pro Special Series M.2 PCIe SSDs meet Sony's PlayStation 5 SSD speed requirements, the company's new  T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Pro Special Series SSDs promise faster speeds and larger capacities, delivering sequential read/write speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and 7,000 MB/s and drive capacities of 4TB and 8TB.

When these SSDs launch in October, TeamGroup may be releasing the world's first 8TB consumer-oriented PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD. TeamGroup's T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Pro Special Series SSDs will also ship with the "industry's first-ever white graphene heat sink", matching the exterior of Sony's PlayStation 5 console.

TeamGroup has even gone so far as to say that they have created their T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Pro Special Series "specifically to expand PS5 storage".

Given the insane capacities of TeamGroup's new 4TB and 8TB CARDEA SSDs, it is understandable that the prices of these drives will be equally staggering. With MSRP prices of $899.99 and $1,999.99, TeamGroup's 4TB and 8TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs are amongst the most expensive on the market. That said, given today's prices for 1TB and 2TB drives with these speeds, TeamGroup's high prices for their 4TB and 8TB models are not exactly unexpected.

What follows is TeamGroup's Press Release.

Pro Special 5eries...
Well that's one way to get the point across. Interesting that it's 8TB when PS5 spec specifically says up to 4TB - I guess that was just due to no capable 8TB models existing before this.Quote

Hopefully it's not a PS5 hardware limitation and it's just a firmware fix to support 8TB. Not that I'd ever need that much but some people might and they should have that option.Quote
