The Elder Scrolls Skywind - June 2016 Progress Update

Many of you will have heard of Skywind, the non-commercial, fan made mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that merges the game with the much older Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, allowing Morrowind to be played with Skyrim's Engine and graphics, bringing the game bang up to date.

The Creators of this mod is still working hard on bringing Morrowind to Skyrim, but they are also working to bring Oblivion into Skyrim's engine in the future, effectively creating The Elder Scrolls III-V: Morrblivonsky.

All those who use the mods will be required to own copies of all of the games that you wish to emulate within Skyrim, and while a lot of progress has been made on each mod it is currently unavailable to download due as the developers want end users to play the game in a complete stat with relatively few bugs.

Below is a new trailer for the Skywind mod, which showcases the game's great visual design and the huge attention to detail that the creators have when creating a modern interpretation of Morrowind. To be completely honest I think that this mod now looks better than vanilla Skyrim, which is a huge achievement for any conversion mod.

A small update trailer featuring some of the latest work from the Skywind team! Everything shown is but a small fraction of work done on Skywind over the last few months.

Music, voice acting, sound effects, quest implementation, bug fixes, etc. couldn't be shown properly in this video, but are being developed along side the visual progress. All footage shown is from the private developer alpha and is subject to change.

Right now this project is still in the pre-alpha stage, but it has certainly undergone a great deal of progression since the project's beginning, recently adding a lot of new assets, greatly improving the detail and visual fidelity of the coastal landscapes, giving voices and dialogue to the many NPCs and differentiating the different areas of Morrowind in a very lore friendly way.

Right now this project is in alpha and is currently unavailable for public download. To play this mod on release players are required to own both Morrowind and Skyrim, as the game makes use of the existing game files and some assets.

While earlier versions of the mod were available to download the modding team has now decided to keep their work internal so that the future users of the mod will not only have a fully playable title but be able to experience Skywind as the developers intended.

In the future the team also has plans on converting Oblivion over to Skyrim's game engine, but this will be after the completion of Skywind, as right now there are only a few developers that are currently dedicated to that task.
