The Nintendo NX will launch in March 2017

The Nintendo NX will launch in March 2017 alongside a new Zelda game. Right now very little is known about the Nintendo NX, but it is expected to use an AMD SoC that is more powerful than the SoC used in the PS4.

Nintendo's Wii U console is widely viewed as a failure by the public, mostly due to Nintendo being unable to hold 3rd party support on the platform, due to the relative weakness of the Wii U when compared to the PS4 and Xbox One and the lack of interest in the Wii U's unique gamepad.

With the Wii U having no 3rd party support and the 3DS showing it's age on the handheld market Nintendo needs to release some new hardware in order to act as a foundation for future success.

It has also been announced that the next Zelda game has been pushed back to 2017 and will now release on both the Nintendo NX and Wii U simultaneously. Hopefully, Nintendo will launch the Wii U with a strong launch lineup that includes a variety of both 1st and 3rd party games, as Nintendo have proved time and time again with their console releases that they really need to try harder to maintain the support of 3rd party developers.

Really excited to see where Nintendo go with their new console! I have seen online that the NX won't be shown at E3 which is very surprising, but as far as I call it will fully revealed later on this year though I couldn't find a specific date.

More powerful than a PS4? That's impressive. I'm therefore assuming it won't be a handheld again like the U wasQuote

So if it's more powerful, than the PS4 I wonder if it's going to use the same spec's as what the PS4.5 is going to use.Quote

I'd take a guess and probably use a slightly newer CPU, probably higher clock speed. And the GPU may be a Polaris chip since it releases next year. But probably just the same as PS4 but no CUs lockedQuote

The Wii U isn't a handheld.
