The Static Mesh Improvement Mod has been released for Skyrim Special Edition

Skyrim's Static Mesh Improvement Mod has been ported to Skyrim Special Edition, offering gamers some huge graphical enhancements when compared to an unmodded version of the game.

Sadly Skyrim Special Edition did not improve/replace any of the meshes in Skyrim, which means that the Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM) benefits Skyrim Special Edition just as much as its predecessor. The mod improves over 900 meshes in Skyrim with over 30,000 placements, making objects in the world of Skyrim look much more realistic.

The SMIM is easily one of the most popular mods for Skyrim and is currently available as version 2.01. In all honestly, this mod has a much of a visual impact on Skyrim as Bethesda's new Special Edition itself, making it a must use mod for most PC gamers.

The only Mod I was waiting for and it makes a monumental difference to the whole game. I can now start the whole game again from fresh.Quote

I hope the SE gets Steam Workshop support soon, I'd much prefer to get all my mods through SW than Nexus.Quote

It won't. The "official" mod hosting system is all based on Bethesda.net now. Thankfully all the tools to get said mods from said source are available directly in the game.

Personally having used the Nexus since Morrowind I'll be sticking with it.Quote
