The Witcher 3's Open World will have No Loading Times

CD Projekt Red have announced that the Witcher 3's open world will have no loading times, with the only times where you will require a loading screen is upon starting the game, upon death and when fast traveling.

Here is what CD Projekt Red's Jonas Mattsson has to say in his interview with Gamespot;

"there's no loading times. Only when you actually start the game, when die and load the game, or when you fast travel. That fast travel loading time depends on how far you have to travel of course. If you just fast travel a little bit, it's a really short loading time.

One of the goals we had was to keep the experience as fluid as possible. When you play, you don't want to have the loading screen because it takes you out of the game a bit. We wanted to make sure that it was as smooth as possible, one big experience. For us, that was really important. I think we achieved that because, as you said, just going in and out of a building, there's no loading time. Nothing. It's just creates this really nice experience."

With the promise of no loading times, the only fear that comes to mind is that respawn times and fast travel times may not be satisfyingly fast, like the PS4's recent game Bloodborne, thought GTA V another recent open world game does show that short loading times in games like this is possible.

The Witcher 3 is most certainly one of the most highly anticipated titles that will be coming to PC and consoles this year, so the pressure is really on CD Projekt Red to deliver a great port and a stable release, especially given the delays this game has had in the past.

It has also been revealed that this game and Batman: Arkham Knight will receive post release game patches which will upgrade the game to Microsoft's upcoming DirectX 12 API, which should provide some extra game performance to these graphical powerhouses.

It's the only thing I hated about Bethesdas' Skyrim, all that infernal loading screens.

If CD Projekt Red pulled this off for Witcher 3, with no issues on the horizon... well, it will be a fantastic gaming experience, it will be much easier to stay immersed in the game. This is really great news.Quote
