Titanfall 2 will have a single-player campaign

The lead writer of Titanfall 2 has promised that the game will have a "grounded, dirty, human and real" single-player campaign, which will hopefully give players a better start to the game and give the title much more longevity than the original.

One of the many disadvantages with multiplayer only games is that gamers can only learn how to play the game in a PVP setting, against gamers which are most likely more experienced and and with higher level items and weapons than new players, making it difficult for new players to get started. Hopefully the single player campaign will help new players get started in Titanfall 2, especially given how hard it became to get a match in the original game's multiplayer campaign a few months after launch.

The multi-player game will be even better than it was the first time around. The first game was an Xbox exclusive. This one is going to be widely available, I believe on all platforms. One of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone ‘here’s who you are, here’s where you are and who’s around you.’ We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it.

So we are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet. Rather than taking a traditional sci-fi approach to that we wanted to look at how that would happen practically, what the ships would look like and with machines that were designed for excavation and construction , demolition and working the land, and what happens when they are turned into instruments of war.

What inspires us is the junction of technological advancement with the inevitability of conflict and war and what the next war might look like. In Titanfall 2 there will be a lot of [scenes] where science meets magic, but keeping it grounded and dirty and human and real.

The developer also stated that the game would be releasing on more platforms than the original game, releasing on PC, Xbox One and likely the PS4.

Right now there is no word on the release date of Titanfall 2, but it is expected to be releasing sometime in 2017.

It's becoming more popular basically because it's unbelievably expensive for a studio to add a campaign than it is just for multiplayer. While i'm a campaign guy myself, some games are probably better off being multi only, for example Rainbow Six Siege.Quote

I'd rather a campaign but that's because most of my mates spend all their time playing RUST and I CBF with that. Also - less hacks and cheats and less of me looking like I'm a potato which is always good.

Might have a reason to buy Titanfall 2 now.Quote
