Creative Assembly has released a new Campaign Walkthrough for Total War: WARHAMMER, this time showcasing the Vampire Couts of Sylvania faction and their many unique features and abilities such as their ability to raise the dead after large battles and their vampiric corruption mechanic.

Total War Warhammer will be a total war experience like no other, not only bringing a new setting to the franchise but bringing with it the variety and complexity that only a fantasy world can provide. That’s right – we’ve got some more gameplay to show you, featuring everyone’s favourite Vampire Counts. Are you interested in which of their abilities are the most powerful? Want to find out more about some of their technology? Battlefield units?

We’ll show you all that, AND give you an in-depth look at the Raise Dead recruitment mechanic – including how it improves as the corpse-count rises and the bodies stack up…

Are you excited? Of corpse you are.

The Total War series has always been known for being demanding, displaying hundreds, or even thousands of units on screen in a single instant and have them battle one to one. Over the years Total War games have often been called unoptimized, not making the best us of available hardware and often suffering from graphical issues or instability at launch.

With Total War: Warhammer Creative Assembly plans on changing things, for the first time making their Engine dedicated to 64-Bit and now have announced that the game will be making use of the DirectX 12 API thanks to a new hardware partnership with AMD.

Creative Assembly has chosen AMD as exclusive GPU partner to bring Total War: Warhammer as a DirectX 12 game to market.

Total War games have in the past been demanding on both the CPU and the GPU, meaning that all of DirectX 12's primary benefits will be utilized, allowing for the game to more easily utilize more CPU cores and reduce CPU overhead, as well as better load the GPUs for greater performance.

On the campaign may the DirectX 12 API may also help reduce the time taken between in-game turns, in a similar way to how Mantle had affected Civilization Beyond Earth.

Really liked this video. The best part was showing off the new recruitment system that's unique to the VC's. Raising the dead and instantly getting them in the same turn instead of waiting for them to be recruited? That's awesome! Think VC will probably be my 1st or 2nd playthrough. Definitely the most unique faction of the main 4.Quote
