Total War: Warhammer to gain DX12 support in a new patch

Tomorrow Total War: Warhammer will gain DX12 support in a new patch, including support for asynchronous compute on compatible GPUs.

With this new patch, which will go live tomorrow at 2PM BST, Creative Assembly will also add their first piece of free DLC to the game, adding the new Blood Knights unit to the Vampire Counts Faction.

This new patch will also add a benchmark mode to the game, allowing gamers to judge the performance impact of certain in-game settings before playing the game. This benchmark mode can be used in both DirctX 11 and DirectX 12 mode to allow gamers to judge the performance impact of the new graphical API.

(Planned Free DLC for Total War Warhammer)

Right now Creative Assembly calls their DirectX 12 mode a beta, with the company planning to improve their implementation of the new API in the future. The company plans on continuing to release new free content for the game, from new heroes to new Legendary Lord and even a new faction.

Looking at the image above combined with my limited knowledge on Warhammer lore, my guess is that the next new race should be the Wood Elves, who are a race that occupies the forests south of Brittonia.

Wish I had a GPU to test DX11 vs DX12. Currently running iGPU
Also really hope they start releasing more patches/flc content sooner, but based off the fact they said New Race comes end of the year, probably got a long ways to go. It'll either be Wood Elves or Bretonnia added officially to the grand campaign(as Bretonnia already has a working tech tree hidden in files)Quote

Yeah, but Brittonia is a new faction, not exactly a new race.Quote

Good point.. then I agree it's Wood Elves! On the campaign you can see where they will be placed too, one region in Bretonnia with that very large forest that you can't go through.Quote
