Witcher 3 Modders Overhauling the Lighting System

Nvidia Release their Own Requirements for the Witcher 3

Witcher 3 Modders Overhauling the Lighting System

The Witcher 3 is already a fantastic looking game, but modders are already overhauling the game's lighting system to look even better. Have a look at the modded lighting system when compared to the game's Ultra settings below.

The mod is still a work in progress, but the modder does say that it will be releasing soon.

The Witcher 3 uses 2 lighting systems, one which is present during cutscenes and another which is used in the main game. The lighting system used in the games cutscenes is more advanced and is being brought over to the main game in order to bring better in-game lighting affects.

While the game does look better with the more advanced cutscene lighting effects, it will likely come with a big performance hit when used in the main game, though we will see when the mod is finally released.

Looks like the just disabled a lot of post processing and nerfed the tone mapper - looks terrible IMO.Quote

Um.. It looks more like AA/postprocessing is disabled and then graphics are turned up to Ultra in the video.. I can't tell if it's moded or not. Literally no difference from what I play and what the vid shows.

He also doesn't mention which is the mod and original in the video.. so it's nearly pointless tbh. I used the E3FX mod and I don't think it looks better, just changes the overall color of lightning to make it less orangy(which I kinda liked tbh). I haven't found any Lightning mod that really improved the graphics.Quote

Agreed, the E3FX just makes it horribly washed out and flat, many of these so called mods can be achieved yourself by looking at the Witcher.wiki site all the settings are there and they give you a guide to setting up too Quote
