YouTube Finally Supports 60FPS

YouTube 60FPS Now available on Android and iOS

YouTube 60FPS playback is now available on Android and iOS thanks to a new update. This comes mere months after YouTube implemented support for 60FPS content on Google Chrome and only 2 months after the feature was even implemented into YouTube Livestreams

The options made available by these new updates to the YouTube apps on Android and iOS is undoubtedly a good thing, this is a feature that many content creators and viewers have been asking for ever since the feature wen live on the main website. The one potential issue here is what affect the playback of 60FPS videos will have on the battery life of these mobile devices.

To watch 60FPS content on your Android or iOS device you will need to be running on the latest version of the YouTube app. Below is an example of a 60FPS YouTube video.

At present if you wish to view 60FPS content on PC you will need to be using Google's Chrome Browser, and you need to watch the videos in HD as 60FPS content is bandwidth heavy.

You can join the discussion on YouTube 60FPS coming to iOS and Android on the OC3D Forums. Do you think that the potential affects on battery life is worth more than the ability to play 60FPS content on YouTube?

This is a good thing, I like the new quality smoothness of 60FPS. Will this work in the standard Chrome on iOS though or is it just the Youtube app?...Quote

I'm thinking it's just the YouTube app. The mobile version of Chrome doesn't have an option to change the quality (at least on Android)Quote
