Mechanical RGB enabled keyboards don’t come cheap, especially when every major manufacturer keeps piling an increasing number of hardware and software features onto these devices on a yearly basis.

Cooler Master has released their new CK550 mechanical keyboard, taking a no-nonsense approach to design to ensure that end users have a great user experience while maintaining a low price point of £74.99 in the UK.

To create this keyboard Cooler Master are using Geteron mechanical key switches, which will come with the usual red, blue and brown varieties, mimicking the well known Cherry MX colour scheme that we all know and love. Each of these key switches offers RGB functionality, with RGB control that can be adjusted on the keyboard itself using lighting macros or using software to access further levels of customisation.

The top plate of the CK550 is made from a single piece of gunmetal coloured brush aluminium, offering users a “floating” keycap effect and a minimalistic look.

By cutting away unnecessary features like USB passthrough and utilising a simplistic, yet effective design scheme Cooler Master is able to offer their fans a mechanical RGB keyboard for £74.99, delivering users a two-year warranty with keys that are rated at 50 million keystrokes in its lifetime.

Cooler Master’s CK550 keyboard is available starting today at retailers in the UK and US.
